Help 100UE Make 2012 the Year of the Entrepreneur!

JANUARY 2012

A NEW YEAR is an occasion for reflection as well as, naturally, looking ahead — taking stock of what has gone well and vowing to improve whatever could stand to get better. Over the past year, 100UE has provided funding and mentoring to more than 50 talented urban entrepreneurs nationwide. Our plans for 2012 are even bigger — but to pull them off, we need your help.

It has been less than two years since we forged the concept for 100 Urban Entrepreneurs — and in that time we’ve not only offered funding and mentoring to our current roster of entrepreneurs; we’ve also inspired and empowered thousands more through our online resources and the 60-Second Business-Pitch Events we’ve hosted across the country.

We’ve done none of this in a vacuum, though: The help of our friends and partners has been invaluable in enabling us to positively affect the lives of so many. Our success is due in part to our association with the ongoing White House Urban Entrepreneurship Summits; the Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Conference + Expo; LRMR Marketing; Operation Hope; the National Urban League; and innumerable community organizations, local leaders, academics and volunteers.

As we look ahead to 2012 — a year full of promise but also of potential economic uncertainty — we realize the importance of leading through inspiration, investing not only in ourselves but in others. As such, we’ve developed an exciting initiative through which committed benefactors can help us support the next group of 100 Urban Entrepreneurs.

We’re seeking donors to make a one-time financial commitment to the 100UE family by providing a tax-deductible grant, at one of the levels laid out below, to our entrepreneurs. Your generosity will supply a much-needed infusion of funds to help talented young businesspeople harness their dreams, creating jobs and economic growth in the communities that need them most. Please join us in helping create a brighter future for these ambitious entrepreneurs.

OUR GOAL: Before the end of this tax season, 100UE is looking to showcase at least 10 generous individuals and organizations that are making a difference by investing in the lives and businesses of emerging entrepreneurs.

In addition, we’d like to invite all donors to consider becoming a Sponsoring Mentor as well — a designation that bolsters your financial commitment by enabling you to turn your professional skills into an investment in the development of our entrepreneurs. It’s a down payment measurable not only in dollars, but in intellectual capital. In 2012, what better gift could you (or someone you know) provide than one that goes directly to support urban small businesses nationwide? Help 100UE make 2012 the year of the entrepreneur. Thank you!
