Akron: September 27, 2011
100UE’S “NEVER STOP PITCHING!” business-pitch event in Akron, Ohio, on Tuesday, September 27 — hosted in tandem with the sports-marketing firm LRMR — was an enormous success. The event itself was just one part of a daylong entrepreneurship summit that also included a lesson in business economics from University of Akron professor Stephen Washington and a scintillating keynote speech from Jesse Itzler (formerly known as the rapper Jesse Jaymes), who has parlayed his own interests and entrepreneurial talent into, among other things, Marquis Jet, which he cofounded and later sold to Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway.
The pitch event, held at the University of Akron’s student union, brought two talented new entrepreneurs into 100UE’s funding-and-mentoring program: Maurice Womack of OurBuckeyeHub.com, a Columbus-based social-media site for Ohio State University alumni; and Andre Hendrix of Andreas DeKar Winery, a premium wine business headquartered in Cleveland.
Keep your eyes on 100UrbanEntrepreneurs.org and the 100UE Twitter feed for information about all upcoming 100UE 60-Second Business-Pitch events. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who submitted a business plan for the Ohio event, and thanks especially to everyone who showed up at the University of Akron to help make the daylong summit such a success.
