Enrichment Prep is an educational-services company. We offer test-preparation programs, private tutoring and self-study plans in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Our mission is to provide affordable and accessible services to help students achieve their academic potential.

HOW $10,000 WILL HELP: “The grant from 100 Urban Entrepreneurs will enable me to upgrade my Web site and offer online classes; help me publish textbooks and flash cards; and enable me to expand throughout the Atlanta area and, I hope, to cities outside Georgia,” Saunders says. “I’ll also revise and expand Enrichment Prep’s marketing campaign, obtain the necessary certifications to compete for state, city or county education contracts, and train additional instructors.”

AMBER SAUNDERS, 30, the founder and managing member of Enrichment Prep, is establishing herself as one of Atlanta’s most innovative educators and businesswomen. A 2003 graduate of Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, she majored in International Studies and French. She also attended Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School and will take the Georgia Bar in February.

Enrichment Prep is an educational-services company that focuses on providing test preparation and tutoring for moderate- to low-income households. Inspiration for the business came after Saunders was asked to deliver a talk to students at her old Atlanta high school. A discussion about career goals shifted to the students’ grades and test scores, which had considerable room for improvement.

Saunders soon contacted an out-of-state friend who worked for a test-prep company to inquire about holding a course at the school. The cost was far more than most of the school’s parents would likely be able to afford, so Saunders decided to teach the course herself for less. Enrichment Prep was born. •
