Hayah Mineral Cosmetics, based in Birmingham, Alabama, is a natural mineral makeup line designed to cater to and complement richer complexions. Its core mission is to provide women with high-quality makeup, as well as to empower them physically, mentally and financially.

HOW MENTORING WILL HELP: “Mentoring from 100 Urban Entrepreneurs will help us develop strategies to more effectively market and execute our brand,” says Meagan Peace, “as well as receive valuable input from outside perspectives.”

HOW $10,000 WILL HELP: The grant will catapult our business by enabling us to obtain extensive training in multi-level marketing and direct sales; create a rewarding business model for prospective Hayah consultants; and expand our product selection. It will also enable us to join the ranks of top multi-level marketing companies by securing membership in the Direct Selling Association.

MEAGAN AND DARRIUS PEACE are both graduates of the University of Alabama at Birmingham; Darrius received a B.A. in Spanish, and Meagan holds a B.A. in Studio Art with a concentration in graphic design and minors in both Art History and Spanish. Darrius, who has 10 years’ experience in the beauty industry, is also a licensed Master Barber/Stylist in Birmingham.

While raising three small children, Meagan and Darrius launched Hayah Cosmetics to fill the desperate need for a line that not only addressed the diverse needs of women with richer and deeper complexions, but that also celebrated their unique beauty. •
